Meets Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, or on game days. Attendance at games is required; games 2 days per week after school.
Girls' Basketball –JV -
These inter-scholastic teams begin tryouts October 19th for the November – February season. Students must compete for team membership and maintain good grades through the demanding season.
Boys' Basketball Varsity and JV
-The 7th grade team meets 3-4 times a week. Those interscholastic teams compete with other middle schools in a demanding season. Students try out for the winter season beginning in October. Good grades are necessary for participation.
Girls' Softball -
Practices Mon. - Fri., March-June. Must try out to participate.
Baseball runs from April to early June. Practice is typically from 2:15 - 4:30 every day at the NMS baseball field. Game schedule will be posted on my website during the season. Students must tryout to participate. Students must have their own equipment.

Art Club is a place where students can work on a suggested activity or one of their own liking. Instruction is always available. Currently being held on Wednesdays until further notice.
Once again, NMS is offering a Chamber Orchestra experience for those dedicated student string players looking to perform a higher level of music than offered in our regular Orchestra groups. This group will meet on Friday starting October 2nd - through the end of May, afternoons from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in room D10. There will be an additional rehearsal in April. Watch Mr. Hedin's board in class for more specific information.
Casting & Crew Call
Attention all actors, singers and techies: This year's NMS Drama production will be Into the Woods Jr. Performance dates will be March 3rd-5th.
There will be a student information meeting on September 26th from 2:15-2:45PM. There is a mandatory parent meeting for both cast and crew members on October 13th at 5:00PM.
AUDITIONS: Will be held on October 5th & 6th in the Middle School Auditorium from 2:15-5:00PM. Call Back will be held on October 7th from 2:15-5:30PM. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the lobby outside the auditorium after the student meeting on September 26th. Please sign up ONLY in spaces provided - do not add your name where there is not a slot, and do not cross out someone else's name. If we need to add more days, we will do so. Please notify Mr. Tammero if all the slots have been filled.
PERFORMERS: Please prepare a 1 minute dramatic monologue as well at 16-32 measures from a Broadway song. Pop songs are NOT acceptable. Also, please do NOT prepare any songs from Into the Woods. If you need help choosing a song, please see Mr. Tammero. Bring a copy of your music for the accompanist AND one for yourself, if you need it. You may bring an accompaniment CD but it must be without vocals. You may also sing without accompaniment if you prefer.
ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER CANDIDATES: We are looking for a couple of strong stage managers this year. Please fill out the application and turn it in by October 10th.
CREW: There will be applications in the lobby next to the stage manager forms. Please fill it out and return it by October 9th. Crew members are not required to attend rehearsals until November or December. Please see Mr. Tammero if you have questions.
Please note that if you are cast in the show, you cannot participate in school winter teams (basketball, dance, cheerleading) or other activities that interfere with after-school Drama rehearsals. Also, remember that you must maintain your grades as you would for participation on a school team. Failure to maintain adequate grades is cause for dismissal from the show.

"Help Encourage and Respect Others. This club is based on the nation wide "Best Buddies" program. We strive to be positive social role models for all of our middle school friends. Applications taken in early Fall.
A student extension of the Rotary Club, Interact organizes fundraisers for charitable causes and performs services to the community. Meets once a week.
Intramural activities vary from year to year. After school climbing, volleyball, and skiing have been part of intramurals. All students are invited to participate. Listen for announcements!
Jazz Band meets every Monday, Wednesdy & Friday starting October 7th, 2015- May 20th from 2:00-4:00 in D9. Students rehearse all styles of Jazz. Music ranges from moderate to advanced for a Middle School Jazz Ensemble. Band averages 12-14 performances per year. Performances include Elementary Schools, Middle School Holiday Concerts and Jazz Festivals. Check the jazz band web page for updated lists of performance.
Every other Monday starting 10/19/15 - 2:15-3:15PM
, B5 & Cafeteria. The club will give students an opportunity to learn the skills and training as a Junior Mentor. Students will have the opportunity to tell their story and connect with other students using the online program, Scratch. Scratch is a web based program that allows users to create stories, games and animations. It fosters creative and collaborative learning while teaching skills that are critical for 21st century thinking.

Student work is selected by the editorial staff and enhanced by the art staff. Any student may submit written work. If approved, the work is entered into the magazine, which is published in the spring. Editing meets Wednesday Dec.-Mar. Artists meet Monday’s Dec.-April.
Tryouts - TBA
We will be meeting TBA. Meets once a week from 2:15-3:00 in room C16. There are also 5 meets during the season which are after school Tuesday afternoons (TBD). Students are given problems to solve in a limited amount of time. At practices, students work alone or in pairs to solve problems. Students present their solutions to the team. We discuss alternate ways of solving, shortcuts to save time, and strategies to use. Please join us for our meets. Schedule TBD.
Robotix Club Ms. Dye
Robotix club meets on Monday's after school in Ms. Dye's room, C-13, starting October 17. The club focuses on using the Lego Robotix kits to design and control small-scale robots. The students are the teachers and the learners in this interactive club. Students can sign up for the late bus with a note from home. Please remember to sign up before 9:00 on the day of the meeting if you are taking the late bus. Permission slips to attend this club are available from Ms. Dye.

Have you ever wondered how a piñata is made? Now is your chance to learn how to make one of your own. Pinata Club is starting Monday, October 17th after school and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays for the months of October and November. If you are interested in joining, please see Mrs. Chandler in room D-6 or Mrs. Steeves in room A-7 for a permission slip and more information. This club is open to all 7th and 8th grade students so we hope to see you there!

Ms. Papalia , Mrs. Olsen & Mrs. Iaciofano
The Student Council meets on select Mondays starting Sept. 28 through May 30 from 2:15-3:00 in C1. Through election of representatives early in the fall, this service organization works on school beautification, food drives, sponsorship of families, student dances, first aid training, recycling, moving up activities, panoramic photo, box tops for education and 3 vs. 3 B-ball tournaments.
The student council also organizes school dances:
- Dance time 2:15-4:15p.m.
- No tickets will be sold @ the door.
- Students must attend a full day of school in order to attend the dance.
At this time, we do not have a Technology club. We will let you know if one is formed.
Technology Club - Offers opportunities for 7th and 8th grade students to learn and apply computer technology in more depth than the rotation Computer Integration class can provide. . Student are encouraged to bring their own devices. Anyone who would like to be a guest speaker in the field of technology is more than welcome to join us.

Yearbook will start with our first meeting on September 28th until 3:00. Publishes the annual middle school yearbook. Students accomplish both photography, writing and editing of the book.
